I sense in my spirit that some of us are mad at God because we didn’t get what we wanted. You have become critical and hardened towards Him. Maybe someone left you, maybe a church hurt you, maybe someone passed away that you love, maybe you had a miscarriage, maybe you don’t have any money, maybe something really hard happened to you, maybe life isn’t working out like you expected.
I am not sure what has happened to you but I came to tell you that your frustration and anger is misplaced. How is it that we constantly blame God for the decisions we make and the things that happen in our life? I say that in the most loving way. He is not at fault for whoever hurt you or left you. He is not at fault for the bad things that happened in your life. It’s simple. God is good and we are not. But thank God for Jesus – through Him, we are made righteous by the blood of Jesus. We live in a fallen world and things are bound to happen but GOD can still work out everything for the GOOD for those who live for HIM! (Romans 8:28) Maybe you had no fault for what happened to you in your life, but even so, we know that God is still GOOD. There is NO BAD IN HIM. The DEVIL is bad and He is trying to convince you that he has your back and God does not. Do not listen to the devils lies. And yes, satan is real. He roams this earth — looking to destroy your LIFE. He does not care about you and he wants to convince you that God does not love you or care about you.
Let’s look at James 1:2-8
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
Wait a minute – Heather does this mean I have to pretend to be happy when life sucks right now? No. The scriptures is not encouraging you to pretend – but to pre-set your mind to have a good attitude in the mist of hard times. Your endurance is growing! Yes, it’s hard but you need it in order to accomplish what God has called you to do on this earth.
Let’s keep reading:
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”
So, let’s talk about your heart – is it wavering? Are you wavering between God’s way and the worlds way? Is your attention divided? God is not some genie in the bottle – granting every thoughtless or selfish request. We must stop being so critical of God as if He doesn’t know what He is doing in you. If we know that God gave you purpose before you were even born (Jeremiah 1:5) then we must learn to trust that He is working out things for our good – even if we don’t see it.
So yes, that man left you, but thank God he did because he didn’t love you anyway. God protected you from someone who would have hurt you down the line. Yes, you may be evicted but God wanted to move you to a different area and you weren’t in a position to hear from Him. Yes, you may not have any money but you depend on money more than you do God so He is showing you to depend on Him for daily bread. Yes, someone may have hurt you at church but that wasn’t His fault, He is there to heal you and show you how to love your enemies.
I sense that some of us are trying to “get back” at God through sinning. You aren’t “getting back” at Him for sinning – you are only putting yourself into a deeper pit. And, sin has consequences. I don’t know about you but I want to be close to God – all of the time. Even in those times where I feel like life isn’t fair, even when I am frustrated, even when I feel far from God, I am reassured that God is right there with me and for you. I know He will never forsake or leave me. I begin to meditate on the goodness of God and press past my flesh. Your flesh doesn’t want to “naturally” worship God through hard times – your flesh wants to do what it wants to do. Your flesh wants to clean your entire house when it’s time to read your bible. Your flesh wants to have sex outside of marriage, your flesh doesn’t want to have sex within marriage, your flesh wants to eat unhealthy foods all day and night and never work out, Your flesh is stressed out, weary and worried.
Whenever I get stressed out or in my flesh – I always hear the Holy Spirit tell me, “Heather, the world worries about those things but you do not have to worry about those things. I got your back. I’m with you, stop stressing out!”Read ALL of this next verse—even if you’ve seen it before. I want you to slow down and digest every word.
Matthew 6:25-34
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God[e] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Have I ever gotten mad at God?
Yes.
Was I right?
Heck no.
I’ve learned that I cannot be mad at and push the only One away that can actually help me. And, more than anything, He is my Father. My loving, amazing, wonderful Father. My protector, my Keeper, my Provider, my Hope, my Joy, my Comfort, My Savior, My Lord. Why would I want to push the One who loves me so much away and run to things that really hate me? There is no profit in this world and it will FAIL YOU. That man you keep running to will FAIL you. All of that money you are chasing after will FAIL YOU. That job that is stressing you out will FAIL you.
But, God will never fail you.
He is always waiting with His arms wide open, ready to rescue you!
So, let’s adjust our perspective and count it all joy today, regardless of what we are facing. We cannot change what we are going through – but we can change our response to what we are facing.
Let’s CHOOSE God. Let’s CHOOSE to run to the feet of the Holy Spirit. Let’s CHOOSE to do the right thing. Aren’t you tired of choosing the wrong thing and going around that same mountain, over and over again?
If you are finding that you are mad at God, pray this prayer with me:
“Father in the Name of Jesus, I repent for being mad and bitter towards you. I ask that you forgive me for my sins against you. I repent for hardening my heart against you. I ask you to cleanse me from all unrighteousness and to heal my heart. I ask you for wisdom on my situation and I ask that you make things clear to me concerning what I am supposed to do. I know that you love me and the love you have for me is great. I will never doubt your love for me. I ask you to give me a hunger to spend time in your word and I pray that you help me to be more disciplined in my time with you. Today is a new day and your grace and mercy is new every morning! I am pre-setting my mind to trust in you today. I know you will never fail me or forsake me—regardless of how hard things may look in my life. I know that none of it a surprise to you, Lord! I love you Jesus! In Jesus name, Amen.”
