This is Day 8 from the Journal Challenge:
Oh hellooo NO SOCIAL MEDIA DAY! How is it going?! Is anyone accidentally subconsciously clicking on IG without even realizing it and then QUICKLY getting off? Hey, it happens. Just go with your first thought and get off!
What helped me is putting my social media apps in one folder and changing the title to “No Social Media Today.”
I have completely enjoyed not feeling like I have to go online and to be present in each moment.
The focus for today is GUARDING YOUR HEART.
There’s so much going on the world today. From plane crashes, to missiles in Iran to twitter wars to people dying to so much more. These things can grab your attention (and emotions) and push you all over the place. It’s so important that today, you guard your heart.
Ask yourself today, what are you planting in your heart?
I love Proverbs 4:23 it says:”Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Other versions say, “for from it FLOWS the issues of life. So, what is flowing from your heart?
What has been planted over the years?
What is growing a harvest?
A harvest of anger.
A harvest of lust.
A harvest of hate.
A harvest of jealousy
A harvest of discontentment.
A harvest of running when it gets hard.
Right now, in the name of Jesus, I want you to RENOUNCE some areas that have been planted in your heart.
Maybe abuse is there.
Rejection
Inferiorities
Abandonment
Addictions
Whatever is there, let’s renounce it in the name of Jesus. Tomorrow’s lesson is going to be about overcoming Rejection, insecurities, etc so we will get more into it then.
Ok, now that we have renounced those things, know that you may see some residue from the harvest but when it comes up, pull it up from the root. Declare God’s healing and goodness over your life.
And now, let’s plant some good stuff.
I’m proud of you for making it to day 8 of the Journal Challenge because you are PLANTING God’s WORD in your heart.
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. – Hebrews 4:12
Let’s take an inventory of what we listen to, what TV shows we watch, how much time we spend on social media and start to put some boundaries up.
Social media is great if you’re using it to bring glory to the Lord.
It’s not so great if it’s causing for you to be discontent and unhappy.
TV shows are great to watch here and there.
It’s not so great when you sit in front of the TV all day and ignore the Lord’s promptings to get your life together. 🙂
Music .. well, listen to the heart of the person who is singing/rapping because out of it flows the issues of life. They are speaking over you what they believe. Don’t just let anybody speak over you.
So, cheers too guarding our hearts. This even goes for that messy friend. I once had a friend that was as messy as can be. I would always steer the conversation to the Lord because she liked to gossip. I had to lovingly change topics or talk about the Lord so that she would get convicted.
I am workin’ on something and I don’t have time to be out here playing with God.
I’ve gotten some questions on what to journal and this is included in the Journal details below but I use my journal to write what the Lord shows me, I use it to keep me accountable (for example, today is day 8), I use it to pour my heart out to Jesus. (like a diary)
So, again, today is day 8. Grab your journals and write “Day 8” Tomorrow is Day 9 and so on. If this is your first day joining the challenge, for you — it’s day 1. If you haven’t grabbed your journal or a book to read for the month — find one! If you need some help, I have journals and books HERE. I will rush ship everything to you!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the details of the Journal challenge, check it out HERE.
ALSO, every week, I will be giving you a NEW scripture to meditate on for the week. The goal is to meditate on it daily AND memorize it. Even if you’ve already memorized the scripture — then meditate on it. Just roll it over in your mind, think about it, focus on it, break it down and study it in a brand new way.
I hope it’s going well! We will have a new one on Monday!
Here’s this week’s scripture to memorize:
Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Last week’s scripture is:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT Version)
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all that you do and He will show you which path to take.”
Just a few things!
