This is Day 6 from the Journal Challenge:
Yass, hello Day 6!! How is it going so far for you? Remember that spending time with the Lord is going to cost you something. It’s going to cost you time, it’s going to cost you energy. It’s going to cost you Netflix, it’s going cost you whatever it takes.
Last night, I didn’t get a chance to spend time with the Lord until 10pm. Roman wasn’t feeling too great and was pretty much clinging to me the whole day. When he finally went to sleep, I was DRAINED. The old me would have just.. scrolled through social media or turned on Netflix. But, instead, I ran to the feet of my Daddy. He refreshed me in a way I cannot explain last night. This world cannot refresh my SPIRIT like the Lord can. The Lord is just so faithful to us. Let’s pass the test when it gets hard! Let’s keep going! Let’s stay focused. Don’t GIVE UP! Keep running to this place.
Heather, I am struggling with my time with the Lord and I .. just don’t know what to study. I get it. I’ve been there too. Instead, sit quietly before the Lord until He shows what to study. If you still don’t know, do a word study on the area you’re struggling with. Meaning, you go to the back of your bible and look up scriptures based on what you are going through. You got this! Keep going! Pull out a devotional on your bible app — study that. Read your christian book for the month. Just keep going!
And, it’s time for another verse to study this week! I am so excited! I hope you memorized last week’s scripture!
Here’s this week’s scripture to memorize:
Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect”
This journey that we are taking requires a MIND RENEWAL. This Journal Challenge is RENEWING your mind concerning your TIME with Him.
Maybe, you haven’t been great with spending time with the Lord but you’ve been keeping up with this challenge.
But what other areas do you need to renew your mind?
Maybe, it’s your finances.
Maybe, it’s your marriage.
Maybe, it’s people bondage.
Maybe, it’s your mindset.
Maybe, it’s your single life.
Maybe, it’s depression.
Maybe, it’s anxiety.
Maybe, it’s sex.
Maybe, it’s friendships.
Instead of just accepting generational curses over your life, break those curses and open up your bible. Stop just ACCEPTING CERTAIN MINDSETS THAT AREN’T GODLY AS TRUE.
I recall a season in my life where it seemed like everyone around me was getting divorced. I was a newlywed and I felt like.. if they couldn’t make it, HOW CAN I??
Well, I had to learn that MY example for marriage doesn’t come from other people it comes from the Bible. So, I started to search the scriptures on marriage and I found:
Mark 10:9:
“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
Mark 10:8-10
“And the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
So, your example for marriage doesn’t come from your 5x divorced auntie. It doesn’t come from a bad example that you saw. It doesn’t come from your mindset.
RENEW YOUR MIND. Meditate on scriptures, cast down thoughts, read christian marriage books, attend marriage retreats (hey, I have one in Morocco this year, join me here.)
So, what area are you struggling in?
Renounce that area. Break those generational curses.
Now, pull up some word on that area and USE IT TO FIGHT BACK! The word of God is the SWORD of the SPIRIT!
THEN APPLY it. What good is it to know all this word but don’t use it?
I’ve gotten some questions on what to journal and this is included in the Journal details below but I use my journal to write what the Lord shows me, I use it to keep me accountable (for example, today is day 5), I use it to pour my heart out to Jesus. (like a diary)
So, again, today is day 6. Grab your journals and write “Day 6” Tomorrow is Day 7 and so on. If this is your first day joining the challenge, for you — it’s day 1. If you haven’t grabbed your journal or a book to read for the month — find one! If you need some help, I have journals and books HERE. I will rush ship everything to you!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the details of the Journal challenge, check it out HERE.
ALSO, every week, I will be giving you a NEW scripture to meditate on for the week. The goal is to meditate on it daily AND memorize it. Even if you’ve already memorized the scripture — then meditate on it. Just roll it over in your mind, think about it, focus on it, break it down and study it in a brand new way.
I hope it’s going well! We will have a new one on Monday!
WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGE FOR THIS UPCOMING WEDNESDAY (1/8).
Let’s do a “No Social Media Day.” That’s right. 24 hours. Including me, I won’t be posting either.
Every time you’re tempted to grab your phone and go on social media, open up that bible app. Listen to a sermon. I will be sending reminders before then. 🙂 This won’t happen until Wednesday.
Last week’s scripture was:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT Version)
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all that you do and He will show you which path to take.”
Just a few things!
– I will be sending out a DAILY email of encouragement for the next 21 days and we will wrap with my FREE monthly study on January 23rd, 2020 at 9pm EST LIVE on my Youtube Channel. ( I will also be doing a Live Q & A!)
– There’s no “set” time to when I will send out the daily email. I will send it out as the Holy Spirit places it on my heart. It may be 8am EST. Or, 8pm EST. Don’t worry, it’s coming! Also, make sure you take this email out of your junk mail if it went there!
