This is Day 5 from the Journal Challenge:
How was your Sunday? Did you make it to church?
Going to church is important because it’s vital that we gather together with other believers. Not only that, your pastor watches over your soul and prepares messages in due season to what you are facing. When you gather with other believers you will get edified, built up and encouraged to keep going.
You may say, but Heather! I can’t go to church, I’ve been hurt by the church. So, the people hurt you, not the church. And I don’t know about you but have you ever gone to Target or Walmart and got offended by the employees? Maybe there was 3 registers open but 1,232,134 people in line.
Did it stop you from going?
Nah. You still go to Target and.. Walmart. Offended and all. Don’t let one or two bad apples turn you away from what God will use to heal you.
So, find a church home if you don’t have one. If you’re in Atlanta, GA and you need a church home come and visit my church, The GO church (www.thegochurch.com) Get involved. Serve. Give. Be a part of it. God will use it as training ground to get you to where He is taking you.
What is your mind set on? Is it SET on who hurt you or is it SET on heaven and how to bring people into the knowledge of Jesus?
Let’ me break the scripture down for clarity.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NLT Version)
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
The first part I want you to consider is what is your mind “SET” on.
Is it “set” on “how am I going to do this Lord?”
Is it “set” on “how am I going to pay this bill?”
Is it “set” on “how am I going to survive this hard time?”
Is it “set” on “worries, cares and stresses?”
Colossians tells us to SET our sights on HEAVEN and it’s realities, not this earth. This earth is temporary with everything in it.
So, let’s SET our minds on the “right things.”
I will have joy.
I will have peace.
God is working out everything for my GOOD.
I will trust in the Lord.
I will finally pass this test.
I will pass these spiritual tests.
Hard times won’t last always.
That takes me to my second part.
For you have DIED to this life and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
If you are dead to this world you aren’t controlled by it.
If you are dead to this world then you are dead to it’s cares and stresses.
If you are dead to this world then you won’t be moved by the hard times.
If I am dead to something, I have no feeling of it.
So, what are you facing? ________
Now, what is your mind set on? VICTORY.
What are you DEAD to? WORRY.
Let’s start fighting back! We are DEAD to this world. We don’t THINK or act like it!
Let’s GO!!!
I’ve gotten some questions on what to journal and this is included in the Journal details below but I use my journal to write what the Lord shows me, I use it to keep me accountable (for example, today is day 5), I use it to pour my heart out to Jesus. (like a diary)
So, again, today is day 5. Grab your journals and write “Day 5” Tomorrow is Day 6 and so on. If this is your first day joining the challenge, for you — it’s day 1. If you haven’t grabbed your journal or a book to read for the month — find one! If you need some help, I have journals and books HERE. I will rush ship everything to you!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the details of the Journal challenge, check it out HERE.
ALSO, every week, I will be giving you a NEW scripture to meditate on for the week. The goal is to meditate on it daily AND memorize it. Even if you’ve already memorized the scripture — then meditate on it. Just roll it over in your mind, think about it, focus on it, break it down and study it in a brand new way.
I hope it’s going well! We will have a new one on Monday!
WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGE FOR THIS UPCOMING WEDNESDAY (1/8).
Let’s do a “No Social Media Day.” That’s right. 24 hours. Including me, I won’t be posting either.
Every time you’re tempted to grab your phone and go on social media, open up that bible app. Listen to a sermon. I will be sending reminders before then. 🙂 This won’t happen until Wednesday.
This week’s scripture is:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT Version)
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all that you do and He will show you which path to take.”
Just a few things!
– I will be sending out a DAILY email of encouragement for the next 21 days and we will wrap with my FREE monthly study on January 23rd, 2020 at 9pm EST LIVE on my Youtube Channel. ( I will also be doing a Live Q & A!)
– There’s no “set” time to when I will send out the daily email. I will send it out as the Holy Spirit places it on my heart. It may be 8am EST. Or, 8pm EST. Don’t worry, it’s coming! Also, make sure you take this email out of your junk mail if it went there!
